Revamping Old Outfits

I'm pretty open about the fact that I am, indeed, an outfit repeater. If I like something, I'm going to wear it more than once, that's just how it's going to be. While I do enjoy rocking the exact same looks head to toe from time to time, I'm all about "revamping" old outfits. I take the basics or foundation of an outfit I've worn in the past and just...tweak it a bit. I mean, duh. Just those few small changes can make all the difference. Or maybe it still just looks like I'm wearing the same outfit. I don't know. I don't really care all that much, either, to be quite honest.

Four score and seven years ago (or like, back in January I guess), I wore almost this exact same outfit. Except I had on boots because I'm not that insane to wear captoe pumps when it's single digits and the sidewalks are covered with snow. I also had on a dark grey turtleneck sweater with black culottes, not black cigarette trousers. One thing these looks had in common though was the fact that I actually brushed my hair before I took photos and like, the general idea of a black/grey base with this Vince cardigan layered on top. This cardigan is cozy as all hell, why wouldn't I wear it every single chance I have? I love living life feeling like I cocooned in a blanket all day.

In the moment when I was getting dressed, I subconsciously chose almost the same outfit. It wasn't registering in my lil ole noggin that this outfit had been on my blog just a few months before. And then before I knew it I was freezing my ass off on the streets of Niagara Falls trying desperately to get some good shots in that I could save up for days like this when I, shocker, didn't want to use the post I had planned already. That happens far too often, I swear.

So here we are, talking about the art of revamping outfits. You don't even have to revamp them if you don't want to. Hell, re-wear your outfits loud and proud (just make sure they don't have a smell or a stain, that would be...not great). But, you know, at the bare minimum just copy your own outfits and make a couple of tweaks. Can I admit that I went a couple of years back into my Instagram (did I really just hyperlink and self-promo my Instagram? Really? Mid post? Seriously? Hell yeah I did, go follow me) and started saving older pictures of myself in my fashion inspiration collection? Because I did. I 100% did that I do not regret it.

I've worn a lot of outfits in the past couple of years and you know what, I've had some pretty damn good ones! So now I think it's time to bring them back, if not in their exact form, then at least remake them to something that would suit both my style currently...which is....I don't even know what. Living out of a suitcase chic? I only packed five pairs of shoes and had to shove as many outfits as possible into a suitcase to maybe last me two weeks?

So in this case, I was my own #FashionInspo and you could be for yourself too! Seriously, all you have to do is back the main basis of the outfit and just switch the porportions or textures. I swapped out the grey sweater for a black sweater for a more monochromatic look underneath. I popped on some more tailored cigarette trousers to really streamline the look and make the sweater the focal point instead of my super wide-legged culotte trousers. And then since I'm seriously annoying about this kind of stuff, I brought out the tan in the sweater and wore my tan and black Zara captoe pumps. Who doesn't love a little color coordination, am I right?
