Time to Take a Breather

Since the 26th of September, I've essentially been on "vacation." There's nothing wrong with a good vacation. Getting away and taking time off of work is the loveliest feeling. It just becomes weird when you have three vacations in a row and spend nearly four weeks living solely out of a suitcase. For me, that's when it starts to transform into a nomadic zone.

I'm a homebody, for sure. I like being at "home." That doesn't mean that I need to be in the childhood house that I grew up in all the way in Western New York. It just means that wherever my home base and stuff is. My dorms become home, as did my apartments. My mind gets a little confused when I technically have a place to stay that I've stayed a thousand times before, but I'm living out of just a suitcase without my own bed, my own closet, my makeup drawers, and my own sense of comfort. It's like a child without their blankie and favorite stuffed animal, except to a much higher degree.

I'm finally back in Western New York while I wait to hear about a few things, but come next Monday, I'm already back in New York for a couple of days to see Niall Horan from One Direction. Why do I keep buying tickets in cities where I don't live when there are closer dates? You know how people have their goal dresses? These tickets are my "goal tickets" to get myself to move to New York. Which, in theory, cute idea. But also there are so many factors beyond myself and my abilities to move that I didn't quite take into account. But that's another story for another time!

It's been nice to sit back and take a breather for the first time in a few weeks. After what's felt like a go, go, go month, I've been able to lounge, relax, catch up on TV. I even baked for the first time in about a year on Saturday and made a delicious coffee cake. I didn't leave the house at all and it felt glorious. I usually like to at least get out once a day, but sometimes you just need to have a day to yourself in whatever is your home at that moment in time.

I will always stand by the fact that self-care and taking time for yourself is incredibly important. You know yourself better than anyone else knows you. If you can tell that you're having a tough time and aren't in a good head space, know that you can totally take a step back, regroup, and continue on from there. Powering through whatever struggle you're going through doesn't have to be the only option.

Even just a full weekend at home has helped immensely. I'm back to babysitting today, hopefully only for a short period of time, but I'm not dreading it. I just needed a few days to get back into my normal mindset, recuperating from the four weeks of "vacation" that started to stop feeling like a vacation.

    1. Thank you!!! I'm not a huge outerwear person outside of winter coats, but a leather jacket was a must have in my wardrobe! You should totally check out Zara, tons of trendy and unique pieces! They should have similar styles, I got mine less than a year ago. :) I actually think that this might be the exact one!

  2. You are the biggest babe and I'm so jealous of all the concerts you've been going too - especially in New York City!

    1. Omg Laurel stop, I'm blushing! Listen, I can't even go to any more concerts besides Harry and Niall's for the next year. They've completely wiped out my concert budget! If Liam announces a tour, I'm going to have to sell plasma or something lololol. Thanks Laurel!
