The amount of times I've referenced Pretty Woman over the course of the past five days has been astounding. I genuinely don't think I've talked about this movie more, and I have to say, Rodeo Drive and the Beverly Wilshire Hotel are for sure to blame. I knew I should've watched that movie on my plane ride to LAX instead of The Devil Wears Prada for the twentieth time. I couldn't have done without 27 Dresses though, it was far too fitting for the reasoning behind my trip.

If you were completely unaware (which, I'm not sure how considering I haven't been able to shut up about it and continuously geotag my locations because I want to be stalked), I've been in California since last Wednesday for my friend's wedding. I'm technically still in LA today, but I do have an overnight flight tonight back to JFK that will make me east coast bound again.
I'm genuinely surprised how much I've truly enjoyed being out in California. I didn't think I'd ever make it out to the west coast. I think I had it engrained in my mind that it was going to be far too hot and too chill and relaxed for me to be able to handle it. I'm very much a cool weather and go go go kind of girl and to me, California exuded the opposite. And then I had the most wonderful tour guides in both my friend who got married (and was, lowkey, the most gorgeous bride ever), her hilarious father, and my friend Natasha. They, along with the rest of the bridal party and wedding guests, made this trip what it was.
It's amazing what some incredible company can do to transform a trip that you had a predetermined feeling about.
I still cannot believe that I was able to be convinced to walk around Rodeo Drive (including into the luxury boutiques, thanks to my friend who convinced me that it was totally fine to go in)(which it was) in my plane clothes. It was a seemingly impossible task and yet, I did it. Someway, somehow, my friend got me to walk around one of the most fabulous areas in leggings that may or may not have had both a hole in the butt and crotch, a pilled and faded Zara t-shirt, and without a speck of makeup on my face. Did I mention that my eyebrows were also overgrown? I was a certified hot mess, yet I didn't burst into flames. It was a miracle I tell you, a miracle!
Aww I'm so glad you enjoyed California! I think west coast trips depend on who you're with though because I've had bad experiences in CA and also the best experiences of my life in CA too!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your friend on her wedding!
