Faux Fur & Florals

Throughout the fall, all I wanted in life was a bold faux fur jacket. I had seen plenty in some online boutiques, but nothing was striking my fancy. They were either too plain or didn't have any sort of button or zipper closure. While I know they're not the most practical coats, I live on the lake and it gets too damn cold to not have a jacket that doesn't secure somehow. I do some pretty dumb things for fashion purposes, but this was not one of them.

My prayers were answered when this jacket came into the consignment shop that I work in. We normally don't take Silence & Noise, as it's sold at Urban Outfitters, but the second I set my eyes on it I told my co-workers that I would buy this coat in a heartbeat. I tried it on and it was a perfect fit and I didn't look back after that!

Truthfully, I didn't get as much wear out of this jacket during the fall and winter time like I wanted to, but I'm confident that I'll use it much more when I'm in New York next fall. It's a jacket that gets a few too many weird looks, which is not something that bothers me in the slightest, but I also tend to walk places with my roommates and I don't always want to subject them to being in my presence when I'm feeling sartorially extra. Still, it was definitely fun to break this jacket out once more this season (if not more, we'll see how the weather goes) since the temperature dropped yet again.

I love the way that the faux fur bomber jacket draws out the green in my floral Rebecca Minkoff booties. I bought these at the Saks outlet back around the holidays as a graduation present to myself. I had been dying for a pair of statement booties and I ended up leaving the mall with a pair of pink velvet booties and these cute little suckers. I get compliments on them every single time I wear them, whether it's from co-workers or customers or strangers in the frozen aisle at Trader Joe's (true story, such a great moment). Plus, they make me my dream height of 5'10" and I could not be happier towering at that height. I wish I never stopped growing...

Since my jacket and boots were so loud, I stuck with a plain black mock neck sweater from H&M and my trusty black skinny jeans from American Eagle. True story: American Eagle jeans are one of the only jean brands that fit me in the waist and the thighs. The trouble with still having my athletic build is that things don't fit me quite the way I want them to. If they fit in the thighs, they're too big in the waist and vice versa. There are a few high end jean brands–like Paige and Rag & Bone–that fit my waist and thighs the same, but who has the money for those? Most certainly not me. Someone will have to wrangle my American Eagle jeans out of my cold, dead hands.

No look of mine is complete without my trusty Quay reflective sunglasses. I also added this simple black quilted crossbody clutch from Rebecca Minkoff. It's such an easy bag to throw on!
