Just in case you're not following the Gregorian calendar, I feel inclined to let you all know that it is indeed December. We're in the twelfth and final month of 2016 and I think we can all collectively throw our hands in the air and cry. But this is supposed to be a positive post, so no crying yet! We've made it this far. I propose we grab December by the
December yields stress on stress on stress, but always ends with a huge sigh of relief. If you're in school, it's full of stressing to get assignments done before the holiday. I don't even want to utter the dreaded "F" word that sends me into a tailspin of worries. Finals. It sounds dramatic until you live them out and have five things due at once all on top of studying and trying to get some sleep. It feels like an overwhelming explosion of stress, but then it's over and you can breathe a huge sigh of relief (or just sleep for three days straight).
On the bright side, post-finals leads into winter break and the holidays and just a time where there is no school. Or if you're me, it leads to your first step into adulthood as a graduate and you just want to vomit everywhere. I'M NOT READY TO BE AN ADULT. But that's another blog post for another time. Maybe when I can insert actual clips of me screaming and panicking about not wanting to grow up. I digress, the four to five week period after a semester ends is pure bliss. It's what we all look forward to on the first day of classes, but then when it comes, we don't know what to do with ourselves. Or maybe everyone else does and I'm constantly stuck in a state of confusion in which I do not understand the world around me. Both are equally as plausible and I'm not totally convinced that the latter might be more accurate.
Despite my circumstances being a tad bit different after finals, I've decided to make some December goals. I always have my yearly goals, but by March I tend to forget that those exist and I just start trying to live my life at a survivable rate. Perhaps monthly goals might me more in reach for me (though that will never stop me from making my yearly to-do lists...they're tradition!).
1. Put a little bit of effort into your final assignments. Don't let senioritis consume you and ruin your chances at Summa. YOU'RE .04 AWAY. DON'T LET IT SLIP AWAY!
2. Perfect that peppermint hot chocolate. Whether or not Smirnoff Twisted Peppermint is involved is up in the air (don't do this if you're not 21, friends).
3. Wear red lipstick with pride every chance you get. All the red lipsticks. Matte, semi-matte, somewhat of a sheen...PUT THEM ALL ON. COVER YOUR FACE WITH RED LIPSTICK. BECOME A HUMAN CANDY CANE. Or just, you know, wear it like normal.
4. Find the perfect graduation dress, even if nobody is going to see it.
4b. DECORATE YOUR CAP WITH ALL OF THE SPARKLES. Don't forget. Seriously, don't get lazy and forget. FRANCESCA, DON'T YOU FORGET.
5. Maybe, like, consider reading a book? Perhaps the one you've been reading since spring time? Just a thought.
6. R-E-L-A-X. Chill. Do nothing for a week straight. Take like .2 seconds to stop stressing about something.
7. Take a picture of Cash (family dog) in his Christmas sweater in front of the tree this year. Again. Because it's cute.
Aaaaaand I think that's it. I'm clearly setting the bar high here...
What are your December goals?
