Coming Up Roses

My skin has been so dry lately. Like, I'm talking barren desert dry. I'm talking my sense of humor dry. I've never in my life had dry skin, seemingly perpetually plagued by oily skin. Needless to say, I've been struggling trying to figure out how to treat this. I've been exfoliating, I've been moisturizing, I've been trying to stay as hydrated as possible. Nothing. NOTHING!!!!

I got the chance to try out this Royal Rose Hydrating Serum from Valentia over the course of the past week. I love the scent of rose and I've been itching to try out some rose waters to see how they'd help soften and hydrate my skin. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to try out some rose products that I've been curious about for a couple of years now.

This serum is said to moisturize your skin, provide antioxidant protection, soothe and nourish dry skin and boost skin radiance. With ingredients like rose damascene, a nourishing, skin friendly natural oil;  niacinamide, vitamin B; for hyper pigmentation; rosehip seed oil, essential fatty acid that locks in moisture; evening primrose oil, non-oily moisturizer for skin; bearberry, brightens complexion; and lavender, heals the skin.

At night, you're supposed to apply one to two pumps of this serum on your face and neck, post-cleansing but pre-moisturizer. The serum is light and doesn't weigh down on my skin. It smells incredible, like a fresh bouquet of roses, honestly. I've only been using this product for a week, which is not nearly enough time to give a full, in-depth review about what this product has down for my skin. But I can, with certainty, tell you that the combination of this serum with my normal skin routine has nearly diminished all of my extremely scaly and flaky skin around my mouth. There's only one or two small places that are easily removed by a little bit of light exfoliation and an extra dab of moisturizer. The moisture my skin retains is pretty noticeable. I haven't seen any sort of brightening yet, but it's honestly only been a week and my results could develop as time goes on. I'm really curious to check in with this product in a month's time just to see what this serum has done to my skin.

I'm definitely going to continue using this product to see how it further moisturizes my skin and also in hopes that it helps out with my typically pretty dull and lifeless skin.

What's your favorite way to hydrate your dry skin? Have you tried any rose beauty products?
