I hate lipstick.
Just kidding. Wow. It really pained me to type out that sentence. I can't even call it a joke because lipstick is too serious of a subject to even joke about.
Fall is when my lipstick game really shines. Dark lipstick is my best friend and it should be yours too. Fake it 'til you make it, girl!
1. Dragon Girl by Nars
This is my all time favorite lipstick. It is the most gorgeous siren red and it stays on for ages. It's the lipstick that Taylor Swift uses/used and I totally understand why she's obsessed with it. It applies like a dream, it requires one layer, and it is just uber flattering. My only complaint is that you have to sharpen it, which is such a bummer way to lose a lot of product.
2. Shame by Urban Decay
This is one of those deep berry shades that is almost black when it's applied at its most opaque state. This is one of my favorite dark lipsticks, mostly because it is so vampy. It bothers me that it's not matte, but I can typically get over it because it's such a killer shade.
3. Flat Out Fabulous by MAC
This Retro Matte finish is so nice. I love that it's not a super dark color so that I can pretty much wear it all year round. I bought it in the spring and I've been loving pairing it with my mustard sweater and corduroys. It stays on so nicely and it barely feathers and I don't even wear lipliner.
4. Exposed by Tarte
I don't wear nude lipsticks, but sometimes the occasion just requires a non bold lip. This is such a great alternative to a peachy nude. It's a nice brown nude, but it's not muddy, y'know? It's the perfect subtle shade to wear with more subdued and neutral outfits that don't really go for anything. And it smells like mint!
5. BauHau5 by Kat Von D
I wanted to include at least one liquid lipstick on this list. This isn't my absolutely favorite (though I saw some gorgeous shades at Sephora that I'm definitely putting on my wish list), I really love the color and if you apply it just right, it's great. The color is a gorgeous deep dragontfruit shade and it dries matte. Honestly, just give me ALL THE MATTE lip colors in the fall and winter. Just be careful that you apply it in even layers or else it will get patchy and you will be unhappy with it.
