Things I'm Loving

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts! These have been some of my favorites of the past couple of weeks throughout the holiday season.

1. Tulle Skirt from eShakti

No item of clothing has ever made me feel more like a princess, not even my prom dress. I got this skirt in the middle of December, a week before Christmas, and wanted to spend every waking moment in it. I wore it to take photographs, refused to take it off until I ate pizza logs much later for dinner (was not about to get sauce on my white skirt!), and ended up wearing it on Christmas Eve. I got a ton of compliments on it at the party as well as later from photos that I posted on my Instagram feed. I've never had an item of clothing fit me better, either, both in length and waist size.

I'm so beyond happy with this skirt. And remember, if you use the code  "lifeaccordingtofrancesca" at checkout on eShakti.com you'll receive an extra 10% off your purchase through January 17th.

2. Purity Face Mask

For Christmas, my mom got me (okay, I picked it out with her so we could use my $15 off at Sephora...) a Philosophy skincare set because I'm boring. Just kidding, but I do love skincare! It's one of my new favorite beauty products to splurge on and purchase. The set came with a massive Purity cleanser, makeup removing oil, and this face mask. It's a gel that you massage into your skin and let sit for about a minute or so. It doesn't harden or dry, but it does make your skin feel incredible smooth and cleansed afterwards. I use this after a particularly heavy makeup day to rejuvenate my skin and ensure that all of my makeup is off. I noticed the change in my face immediately after using it for the first couple of times. It's instantly smoother after you wash it off with warm water and doesn't smell strong!

3. InstaNatural Argan Oil Hair Mask

This was another product that I noticed immediate results with. And even after using it a few more times, I noticed my hair considerably less dry and retaining the smell of my hair products rather than reeking of bleach. I use this product once or twice a week, depending on how much heat I use or how much I wash my hair (it gets considerably more tangled and mousey on second hair curls). It works and it smells incredible. Products don't get much better. I've done a whole post on it where you can read my full thoughts on it as well as a link for purchase!

4. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I read this book my freshmen year of high school and thought it was absolutely brilliant. I figured that if I liked it so much back then, I would like it even better now! I'm about halfway through it again and it's absolutely incredible the second time around. I love the unique narrator (Death itself) and the historical context of it. I really like stories that are about the Holocaust (not to sound creepy!).

5. My New-ish Haircut

I got my hair cut on the 18th, ready to chop off my long locks to look a little more like Carly Cristman and Taylor Swift. I was terrified that I was going to end up crying by the end of it and I did...tears of absolute happiness. I am IN LOVE with it. The color is flattering, the cut is surprisingly flattering, and it's so easy to style.

6. "Portugal" and "Avalanche" by Walk the Moon

"Shut Up And Dance" from the same album was on my 2014 playlist ad these two songs are my two other favorites from the album. Walk the Moon is just an all around great band and I'm really hoping that I can see them when they come to Cleveland in April. Cross your fingers for me!

7. Asparagus

Weird favorite, but I've had asparagus at least once a week (sometimes even twice or three times) since being home for break. I was loving it over the summer on the grill as well, but something about being home made me crave asparagus a lot. Here's an easy way how I make it at home on the stove.

What you need:
+ Large pan or skillet
+ Asparagus
+ Olive oil
+ Salt and pepper (optional)
+ Minced garlic (optional)
+ Parmesan cheese (optional)

1. Put some water into the pan along with your asparagus. Cover the pan to let the asparagus blanch for a few minutes.
2. Add some olive oil and begin to cook your asparagus uncovered.
3. An optional step, but I like to season mine with minced garlic, parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. You don't have to use any of these, or you can just use some (sometimes I won't use the garlic or cheese, but I always use salt and pepper).
4. There is no step four because it's literally that easy.

8. The Spectacular Now

I bought this DVD in a post Black Friday sale at Target for around $4, but never got around to watching it until last week. It's a movie starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley about ~teenage romance~ of course. Brie Larson was in it as well (coolest girl on the block) and Kyle Chandler (Coach Taylor, anybody?). I wasn't a fan of Shailene Woodley until 2014 because I associated her with that god awful ABC Family show. But then she proved me wrong in Divergent and then again in The Fault In Our Stars. This movie came out before both of those, so clearly she's been doing something right in Hollywood films. I wasn't completely in love with the ending, but it wasn't something that ruined the entire movie for you. It just sort of ended, which I'm sure was the point. Every moment leading up to it was incredible though. Not once when watching it did I see how much time was left. I didn't get bored or lose focus. I was honed in on Amy and Sutter and their budding romance. I recommend giving this a watch!

9. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in BauHau5

This name is no joke. I bought this because Rachel Whitehurst mentioned it in a Sephora haul video and it looked like a great color. I've never tried liquid lipsticks before, so starting with an expensive one probably wasn't my bed idea in retrospect, but it ended up working out because I love it. It applies like a dream, only needs one to two coats (depending on how thick or thin the first coat was) and stays put. It dries matte, barely transfers onto food and drinks, and is such a flattering color. I wore it to my uncle's swearing in for the first time last Friday and got a lot of compliments on it. It reminds me a matte version of Revlon's Raspberry Bite, but more pink. I'm excited to try more colors from this line.

10. J. Crew City Coat in Dublin Green

With a color name like that, you'd think that Niall Horan would hit me up by now! All jokes aside, I got this coat as a Christmas gift and am forever grateful for my lovely godparents who ever so graciously gifted this to me. It was all I wanted for Christmas this year and to receive it from two of my favorite people was such a treat. It's the Factory J. Crew City Coat and it's such a cool jacket. Another piece that I get mega compliments on for the color and the cocoon shape. I especially like the hidden buttons! It's such a cool illusion. I feel so chic wearing this coat around, compared to my simple navy blue peacoat. Something about the color and the high-collar makes me feel infinitely cooler than I actually am. Can't wait to sport this on campus next week!
