I don't have free time that often any more, but when I do I like to use every last second of it. Whether that time is spent productively or not, I will not confirm nor deny. I like to spend my free time alone, just because I'm normally always around someone and it's nice to just be by yourself for a while. And you don't have to feel bad about your solitude either! Everybody likes to be alone for some period of time, and if they say they don't, they're lying.
Here is what I like to do in my spare time (when I actually have some).
1. Reading
This is probably my favorite way of spending my downtime. I put on a soothing playlist and grab whatever I'm currently trying to finish. Right now, that would be Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel.
2. Writing
I always have something I'm writing, whether it be a blog post, a story, or any random set of lines that come to my head. I find nothing more calming than a blank word document or a fresh sheet of paper.
3. Online shopping
This mostly is just me scouring the J. Crew and Kate Spade websites for clothes and accessories that I cannot afford at this point in my life. But, looking at everything and fantasizing my future with it is also nice. This takes up most of my time, as I find it hard to pull myself from these websites, even if I am looking at the same few pages over and over again as if I'm waiting for a magical sale to appear.
4. Run
As of late, this hasn't been my highest priority, but if I get bored and antsy from sitting around all day, I'll lace up my sneakers and head out for a quick (well…not really) run around the neighborhood. If I'm at school, I'll walk on a high elevation on the treadmill (as I have horrible knees from softball and running on it irritates them) or do a Pinterest workout on the treadmill.
5. Play with my dog
This includes, but is not limited to: fetch, trying to snuggle him while he runs away, teaching him tricks that I know he'll never learn because he's sort of dumb, and more snuggling.
6. Netflix
There are SO MANY television shows on Netflix that I have to see, so whenever I have a long period of free time, I just go nuts and binge watch whichever one that I have decided to start. Currently, I'm slowly working on Mad Men (#ILoveYouJonHamm #EvenIfYou'reKindOfADickAsDonDraper).
7. Pinterest
Obviously. If you don't follow me on Pinterest yet, you should. I am constantly on that website. Perhaps a little too much (is that even possible?). Back me up on this one, guys.
8. Catching up on blogs
I suppose this could double under reading, but I love going through my favorite blogs to see what I missed during the week and comment on the ones I resonate most with. It's always fun to see what other people are writing about and what they love and hate. It reminds me of having a conversation with a friend after a long break.
What do you like to do in your free time?
(P.S. So sorry about yesterday's lack of a proper post. I was so exhausted that I just didn't want to put up bad content.)
