Canadian skyline and a Canadian tuxedo? The only thing that's missing is a cup of Tim Hortons (it's roll up the rim season, y'all). My denim on denim looks will never amount to Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears wore to the American Music Awards in 2001, but I'm still going to live my life in their sartorial shadow.
Double the denim, double the fun? Why not take my love affair for the stiff blue fabric to a new level and just cover myself head to toe in it? I have a denim Stella McCartney bag in my favorites on The RealReal, I might as well get it and swap out my trusty Saint Laurent bag to make my look a triple threat. And why stop there? I'll get myself a denim baseball cap, a chambray shirt, and hell, let's just get some denim shoes too.
And that, my friends, is what I'd like to call overkill. Or being extra. Or just really, really loving denim.

Denim on denim isn't a look I tend to rock often. In fact, I think the only other times I've dared to try the look out was a couple of years ago. I saw Olivia Palermo in a denim shirt and jeans and since all I want in life is to be her, I needed to try it for myself. I didn't look nearly as chic as her, but I paired a darker pair of boyfriend jeans from Gap with a lighter chambray shirt tucked in with a little cheetah belt to break up the denim. Admittedly, it was a pretty cute look, but was a little more put together than this laid back version.
The distressed denim with the raw hem of the jeans just gives off a very relaxed feel. Was it warm enough outside to wear anything about this outfit? Absolutely not. Even a sweater underneath that jacket was not enough to keep me from shivering and you can best bet that my feet were freezing in my Zara pumps that look so much like Chanel shoes that customers at the consignment shop would ogle them thinking they were the luxurious version. Then I'd laugh and confess that they were just Zara. I was like, twenty-one at the time. I don't have money for Chanel!!! And my feet are too fat for Chanel shoes (Ferragamo too, darn you narrow shoes!!!)
I love the idea of this look for spring. We're creeping closer and closer to the start of spring and even if I know it'll feel like winter for at least a couple of more months, I can at least pretend that it's not in this outfit. Will I shiver? Absolutely. Will it be worth it? I mean, these pictures came out nice, so I guess the verdict is still out. I felt good in it, minus the part where my toes felt like they were going to break off from frostbite. That, anatomically, is not what happens with frostbite, but I was never very great at science...
If you're not too keen on the idea of wearing denim on denim, this look is just as cute with the coordinating tan sweater and shoe combination! Or swap out the lightwash jeans for a pair of black jeans or even a black pair of cigarette trousers. The sky's the limit with denim. It goes with absolutely everything, including more denim!
Sweater: Zara
Jeans: Levi's
Jacket: Who knows!
Shoes: Zara
Bag: Saint Laurent
These photos are a visual representation of what's going on in my head. I just look so lost and confused but am just smiling my way through it. I look like a dweeb or a noodle of some sort, just living my best life trying to survive.
