Athleisure...also known as a trend that I will never be able to rock. I think it has been an unavoidable word in today's trend reports. I've read and heard the word athleisure so many times in the past two months that if I had a dollar for every time, I'd be able to afford to never work for an entire year. It's trendier than big lips and lip kits, I swear. Maybe they're head and head in a battle of the trendiest...
Athleisure, if you've managed to go this long without knowing that it was a "thing," is basically just everyday athletic wear. It's fashionable sportswear. It's essentially using Sporty Spice as inspiration for a trend. Who doesn't want to live out their life long dream of being a Spice Girl? I'm still wishing that I was in a girl group to this day. I'm honestly considering starting a petition to become the fifth and final member of Little Mix. But that's neither here nor there.
In a world of Lululemon, Superstars and Stan Smiths and stars like Rihanna, Rita Ora, and KendallAndGigi, athleisure is alive with the sound of music. From designer sneakers from the likes of Chanel to Adidas separates all the way to leggings with mesh cut-outs the ever-so-famous #MyCalvins campaign.
From what it seems, there aren't many rules to follow. I've seen photos of Gigi Hadid walking around in skin-tight Adidas leggings with a matching sports bra. Equipped with her signature high pony and perfect pout, she just the #Fashion stamp put on what could be considered someone's workout attire. I think that it's cool that there are so many different facets to what's trendy today. Not that trends must be followed. That's definitely not the case, but sometimes it's fun to see everything from the casual athleisure spot on the scale to the most extravagant of pieces.
So, signing out from my oversized Levi's boyfriend jeans and heathered white tee from Rag and Bone. I still stand by the fact that I'm not cool enough to rock sneakers, but damn, would this outfit look great with a pair of Stan Smiths.
Where do you stand on the whole athleisure trend?
