1. Paloma Faith
Once upon a time in 2014, I heard this really incredible song, but I couldn't find it on Spotify and must not have checked iTunes or something. There was a music video on Youtube and I used to listen religiously until, like most things, I forgot about it and moved on. Flash forward to last week when I was listening to some Spotify radio station and a song from the same album came up. I had this moment where I gasped and frantically used the "Go to Album" option on Spotify, only to discover that the song was from the same album as said song from earlier.
The new song was "Only Love Can Hurt Like This" and the song I was previously obsessed with was "Can't Rely On You." And I can, with certainty, tell you that the rest of that album and her music in general is just spot on. I was playing a Paloma Faith radio at work last Saturday and I got at least three people asking who was singing. She's a universal love, guys. Everybody loves Paloma Faith and for good reason. She is so good. Her voice is so unique and the songs are just these incredible pop ballads that either have me dancing or have me screaming at the top of my lungs. I will not confirm nor deny whether or not I roll my windows down and scream out the pitch changes in "Only Love Can Hurt Like This." Nope, definitely not something I do...
2. Atonement
I wanted to talk about this the moment I finished it a week ago to this date, but I couldn't. It has been bothering me for an entire week that I hadn't been able to properly talk about it. Reading has been an absolute struggle for me lately. And by lately I mean since I started college, honestly. Free time is not a thing, I'm convinced. However, I was blessed with an entire day of free time last Thursday after a nice bout of productivity the day before and that morning. To reward myself, I was going to just binge watch Gilmore Girls. But then I said you know what, let's take an hour to read. I started reading Atonement a month or two ago, but I only managed to get to page thirty of forty. I told myself I'd read for about an hour until I moved onto something else.
Well, an hour turned into the whole Atonement movie score which turned into another hour which turned into getting halfway through the book which then turned into another hour which turned into finishing the whole book in like a four to five hour period because I couldn't put the damn thing down. My roommate had to ask if I was okay because I was huffing and squealing and just all around being weird and obnoxious but I couldn't help it. This book made me feel so many things and literally as soon as I finished and read the postscript, I threw the book. I THREW THE BOOK. I read three summaries to make sure that I had read it right and dammit, I did.
Of course, since I had too much free time last week, I watched the movie as soon as I finished eating dinner and bawled my eyes out during that too. All in all, if you want a twisty story that makes you want to throw the book down in the best way possible, do not hesitate to read this book. It was also one of the prettiest and most detailed books I've ever read, so really, it was just amazing in every sense of the word.
3. Tarte Dollface Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush
This has been a favorite of mine for years now. Years upon years I have been wearing this blush as soon as spring breaks because it is the most flattering pink shade I have put on my face in my whole life. It's just enough pink to give you a nice flush, but it's not fluorescent or clown like. It's a shade that even my mother loves, which is rare, because my mom literally does not wear makeup. I had to teach myself with Youtube. Anyways, I digress, I brought this color back out again for spring and what a great life decision that was, I must say. Plus, I mean, I don't think I have to mention the staying power about these. It's in the name, truly. Twelve might be pushing it, but it lasts longer than most blushes and it's matte and seriously, it's just a gorgeous shade. If you had to get one blush color from that range (I have eight), I would say get Dollface, hands down.
What have you been loving lately?
